DÓLMEN DA PORTELAGEM
The Dólmen da Portelagem is single-chamber megalithic tomb, composed by a circular mound of earth, cover by a protective stone armor that slopes to the slabs of the funerary chamber and corridor. The chamber is sub-rectangular, elongated and open to the east, which originally might been formed by 14 to 15 granitic large dimensions support stones. A capstone with great size covered it.
The artefacts found in archaeological excavations include pottery (with or without decoration), various lithic instruments, such as arrowheads and part of a manual mill.
ART | Two of the funerary chamber support stones (no. 6 and 7) have engravings, not visible to the naked eye, with a great variety of motifs. Some resembles squares, diamonds, triangles, V and U. Others depict possible zoomorphic, anthropomorphic and soliforms shapes, as well as wavy lines and reticulate.
