Industrial Tourism

The structuring of the Industrial and Creative Tourism offer is a matter of honor, reflected in the promotion of various initiatives at the Junco de Forjães Interpretative Center, located in the Rodrigues de Faria Cultural Center; at the Sargaço Museum in Apúlia; and at the Abelheira Mills Park in Marinhas.

The Municipality of Esposende signed a collaboration agreement in 2023 with the Regional Tourism Entity of Porto and Northern Portugal (TPNP) within the framework of Industrial Tourism in Portugal.

By doing so, the Municipality of Esposende became a partner of the Steering Group for the Portuguese Network of Industrial Tourism, an informal monitoring structure that includes Turismo de Portugal, Regional Tourism Entities, Regional Tourism Boards of Madeira and the Azores, and other public and private partners.

The Tourism Strategy 2027 frames the development of Industrial Tourism as a new tourism product capable of enhancing the attractiveness of territories, valuing national products, production processes, and expertise, and capturing the interest of both domestic and international tourism demand throughout the year.

Within this strategy, Turismo de Portugal, Regional Tourism Entities, and Regional Tourism Boards have committed to coordinated efforts to promote Industrial Tourism as a unique tourism offer and a driver of socio-economic development in tourism regions. This contributes to the structuring of a nationwide Industrial Tourism network.

In this context, the Municipality joined the aforementioned Steering Group, establishing Esposende as a significant player in Industrial Tourism and reinforcing its initiatives outlined in the Esposende Tourism Action Plan – 2023_2027.
