The poplar is a fast-growing and vertical tree. This specimen presents its main axis quite horizontal, a rare and atypical situation in this species.
The parish of Gandra, due to its intense agricultural activity and proximity, in the past, both to the shipyards of Fão and to the shipyards of Esposende, does not have many trees, especially of considerable longevity.
Very often the supply of wood to the shipyards was carried out through the nearest parishes.
