Restaurants

The richness, originality, and diversity of Portuguese cuisine are revered and serve as a major attraction for tourists who visit us, following closely behind the climate, the friendliness of the people, and the monuments. The importance of our gastronomy was officially recognised by the Government through Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 96/2000, which declared it as an intangible cultural asset that is part of Portugal’s cultural heritage.

In Esposende, traditional Portuguese gastronomy has a permanent place at the tables of our restaurants (see here).

The care put into the art of preparing and serving sumptuous feasts, “true banquets of the Gods,” reflects the purity, variety, authenticity, and tradition of our cuisine, where local ingredients shine and define our Atlantic diet, based on fish from our seas and rivers.

In this “Land of the Sea,” the menus feature, among other delicacies, succulent sea bass – baked or with rice –, octopus, lamprey – prepared in season with bordelaise rice or oven-roasted –, sardines, and the wealth of shellfish from our coast, all of which delight everyone and serve as a unique gastronomic highlight in the region and the country. Accompanying these dishes are Quinta Vinho Verde wines – smooth, light, and aromatic, sourced from the sun-kissed slopes of the Neiva and Cávado valleys.

The famous sweet treats, Clarinhas de Fão, Cavacas, or Folhadinhos, bring a magnificent meal to a perfect close.
